Ensemble de cuivres (Brass Ensemble)
Under the direction of David Martin
A unique place for learning
From the quintet to the 12-person orchestra, the Ensemble de cuivres is a true place to learn about professional life for students in trumpet, horn, trombone, euphonium and tuba. It is also the opportunity for them to deepen their knowledge of a specialized repertoire.
A fine reputation
The Ensemble de cuivres has built a solid name for itself, notably through its participation in such ceremonies as graduations, launch of the football season at Université de Montréal and the inauguration of new pavilions (Polytechnique, HEC Montréal).
The Ensemble has also played at concerts outside town, as well as in the Foyer Allegro at Maison symphonique de Montréal before concerts by the Orchestre Métropolitain.
Collaborations by the Ensemble de cuivres with other disciplines taught at the Faculty of Music are numerous, in particular with orchestration and composition teachers, as well as with the Chœur de l’Université de Montréal. With a view to developing and showcasing new repertoire, the ensemble also premieres new works every year.
