Orchestre de l’Université de Montréal
Under the direction of Jean-François Rivest
Following its creation in 1993 by conductor Jean-François Rivest, the Orchestre de l’Université de Montréal (OUM) quickly became a hub of activity for all performers who visit the Faculty of Music.
Drawing inspiration from the professional world through its artistic excellence and its operations, the OUM offers a number of concerts per year at Salle Claude-Champagne, one of them entirely led by doctoral students in conducting. The OUM additionally participates in the large-scale annual production by the Atelier d’opéra de l’Université de Montréal (opera workshop).
An orchestra that both educates and unifies, the OUM stands out through the spirit of the young instrumentalists who succeed one another year after year and who seek to learn to work as a community in order to share their music with an attentive and loyal audience.
At every concert, the intensity and generosity of the student community make for memorable moments filled with hope and with passion.
